How to Fix Windows 10 Activation Error 0x004f074

“Error 0x004f074” is a problem that many users are experiencing at the moment, not only on Windows 8, but also during the update or upgrade to Windows 10 and is still widespread. This problem occurs when the system can not locate the correct activation key or not originally purchased the operating system. In short, if you do not have or can not provide the original activation key, the activation error will occur. As long as you have the original Windows 10 operating system, it is a feature that can be modified after a few modifications in the system.
This will be the topic I will discuss and make some steps on how to resolve it. All steps are simplified to better understand and solve the problem easily in the shortest possible time. Please note that two similar issues are not guaranteed by the same procedure and decision. However, it’s still better to tell you that if you know someone who has more knowledge about troubleshooting personal computers, you can then let them take them. Otherwise, bring your computer/laptop to the nearest service centre or schedule a technician to come to your home.

Troubleshooting Win 10 Activation Error 0x004f074

There are other similar error codes that cause the same problem, but this code is most common. As I said, there are no similar issues with the same resolution. To narrow the problem, follow the recommended actions below:

Step 1: Uninstall the existing activation key

In this procedure, we need to re-enter the activation key to your operating system. By doing this, you update the system and enter the activation key just like the first time you enter it.

On the Windows 10 Startup screen, right-click on your desktop icon in that menu. To perform the commands successfully, make sure that the command prompt has Administrative Rights.
Click Start on the taskbar
Click Command Prompt
Type “slmgr.vbs / dlv” and press the Enter key on the keyboard
A dialog will appear, click OK to confirm
Type “slmgr.vbs / upk” and press Enter
A confirmation box will appear if the action is successful.
Alternatively, you can follow these steps:
When you open your desktop, you’ll need to right-click the Start button and right-click on the Command Prompt icon, but make sure you open it with administrative rights.

NOTE: To start a command prompt with administrative rights, you need to right-click the icon, click Run as administrator, and then click OK to confirm.
Once you start the command prompt, type “slmgr.vbs / upk”. After entering the command, press Enter to confirm

Step 2: Reactivate the operating system and enter the activation key

In this procedure, you must enter the activation key to activate your operating system and ensure that you have written or have the original installation media.
While on the start screen, you must hold down the “Windows” button and the “R” button on your keyboard.

You must open the “Run” window and need to write “Slui 3”
Press the “Enter” button on the keyboard.
Type in the following window that shows your operating system product key.
Click the left mouse button or click the Activate button.
Restart your Windows 10 device.

Step 3: Activate through Microsoft Chat support

This is one of the many features of Windows 10 for the free activation system. To use this feature successfully, you must have an active Internet connection on your computer to avoid some interruptions or problems. Heres how to do this:
Press the Windows key + “R” on the keyboard
Type “slui.exe4” in the Search box.
A dialogue box containing free calling numbers and the installation ID will appear. You can choose one of the 9 installation IDs and make sure that you are logged in and then click “Enter the confirmation ID”
Return to the desktop and click the Start button on the taskbar.
Click All Apps
Click Contact Support
Click Services and Applications
Click Windows
Click Setup

A dialog will appear that you are connecting to the server and waiting for an agent to help you. Be sure to set up the original activation key if the agent so requests.
You must inform the agent that you are reactivating your operating system to narrow the scope of the transaction. Then, wait until the proxy gives you the new activation ID.
Once you have the new activation ID, continue and enter it.
If the action is successful, let the agent know immediately and then close the chat.
Once you’re done, it’s good to restart the computer and see if the problem still occurs.

Step 4: Visit Tech

If the problem persists, we recommend that you schedule an appointment with your local technician to view your computer and allow them to process the problem, or you may have to bring up and visit the nearest service center.
